At check-in, the hotel will ask for a credit or debit card to hold an amount of money as an incidental deposit (sometimes called a security charge).
This deposit is held on your card to cover any additional charges that you might incur when you're at the hotel, like using the mini bar, ordering room service or damages to your room.
The incidental deposit is held for your whole stay. If you don’t incur any additional charges, the deposit will be released after you’ve checked out.
